̶C̶h̶e̶e̶r̶s̶ ̶T̶o̶ Suck It 2021

Well, I was hoping I wasn’t going to have to say “Suck It” to another year passed rather than “Cheers” but here we are still in the middle of this “new normal”.

The last year was, once again, different than normal years past but maybe a bit less stressful than 2020 was. In comparison to 2020, last year I traveled far less, I went on less local adventures and I took some time off from my social media but……. there was less Covid related stress. I knew more what to expect, I wasn’t as fearful for my health and job (but still kept safe) and I enjoyed more family time at home.

2021 was still great in it’s own right and I’m excited for what 2022 will bring. Pint glass half full, right?

Here are some of my memorable moments in photo from 2021. Enjoy and Happy New Year!

Mount Seymour 1st Peak

Multiple Firepit Beer & Roasted Marshmallows

Multiple Visits to the Beautiful Waterfalls of Golden Ears Park

Another Beer Co x Roark Revival Collab

Not really related to me per se but I’m friends with Alex at Another Beer Co and Roark is one of my favorite brands. This was also my return to social media after a 4 month hiatus.

Father’s Day at Wild Play

A Father’s Day play session at Wild Play Maple Ridge followed by an epic dinner and drink in the back yard.

Building A Redneck Backyard Pool

The heatwave in BC reached 42° C (107° F for my American pals) so I decided to build a backyard pool….. redneck style. Check out my first Instagram Reel for the footage: CLICK HERE.

Kelowna, BC

My first visit to Lakesider (where I had a flight with the talented Cory Ransom) and my first visit to Rustic Reel
Also my first visit to Jack Knife Brewing which has a rad punk rock / metal vibe similar to Trve Brewing
Wine tasting and kayaking. Pinkies up!
Those Kelowna sunsets hit different

Penticton, BC

Floating the Penticton Channel
Post river float visits to Neighborhood Brewing (get the tatchos) and Slackwater Brewing

The 1st of Many Visits to the Barley Merchant

The opening of The Barley Merchant was a huge achievement for friend and fellow beer nerd, Tim Lahay (@crafttourist). It’s the new local watering hole with great food and an epic selection of BC craft beer.

Main Street Brewing, Vancouver, BC

A good ol’ fashion beer get together at Main Street Brewing with some delicious smash burgs from Burgerland Smash Up.

Tin Hat Mountain, Powell River, BC

Rock climbing at The Core and axe throwing with the Axewood Crew
So much amazing food and drink!

Multiple Hikes up Minnekhada

My fav local spot because it’s pretty close to my house (I sometimes bike there and then hike up). I’ll hike it in rain, snow and shine!

Dog Mountain, BC

Powell River Off-Roading

Driving up the snowy FSRs of Powell River.

???, Coquitlam, BC

The frozen waterfall and abandoned campervan in this secret Coquitlam hike.

Locality Brewing, Langley, BC

This was probably one of the best brewery experiences I’ve ever had. Where Locality Brewing lacks in an actual sit-down tasting room (hopefully not for too much longer), they more than make up for in the beauty and activities available on their farm land. Outdoor seating areas with propane firepits, a slide for kids (and adults), farm puppies, a pond that can be skated on in the winter, ATV tours of their farm land (if you’re lucky) and much more!

To top all of that, almost 80% of their beer ingredients come right from the farm. Talk about supporting local!

Instagram Recap

Here’s a little bonus recap of my 10 favorite Instragram posts from 2021 (in chronological order).

Double #SelfPourSunday with my love? How could this not be in my top 10 favs?

I mean, I got to throw a suitcase down my stairs and take a photo. Thanks Main Street Brewing!

My return to Instagram from a 4 month break. How could I resist when my fav brewery and fav clothing brand do a collab?

My first Instagram Reel. 42 degrees and a redneck backyard pool.

A hike up to Tin Hat Hut and a #SelfPourSunday

Self portrait shot staring at the Milky Way. Almost broke my ankle running back and forth to the camera.

This one’s less about the picture and more about the write-up.

Axe throwing lessons from yours truly.

A little Halloween #SelfPourSunday photo magic.

To end the year, one of the best brewery experiences I’ve ever had!

Cheers to a prosperous 2022 filled with epic adventures and great drinks!
